The course is not marked. Participants must use Ride with GPS to navigate. Please familiarize yourself with this course as the descents can be quite dangerous. People have died descending these mountain gaps on bicycles. Please use caution on the descents. The gravel course will feature 22% paved roads. The road course will feature 20% unpaved terrain and one of the climbs/descents (Braintree Gap) is a Class IV road, meaning it's unmaintained.
No support on course. Participants must support themselves the entire route. The support can come in the way of you carrying all of your fuel or utilizing local stores. NOTE: Many stores in Vermont won't be open Sunday evening so you should plan accordingly, late in the race.
Registration / check in will be Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. or Sunday morning from 5-6 a.m. The race will start at 6 a.m. sharp.
Mandatory gear - Well maintained bike, cell phone, nutrition, hydration, lights, appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, repair kit, and tools. are mandatory. All participants must have a working blinking light the entire race. All participants must have a headlight as well and be prepared to use this light after 8:30 p.m., if you are still on the course.
Participants will receive a hat and a post race meal. Finishers will receive an award.
Camping is available at Silver Towers Camp in Ripton. Silver Towers will serve as the start/finish for the event. Bunk style lodging is available for $15 per night. 100% of the proceeds go to Silver Towers. The dorms have bathrooms and warm showers.
This is a cup free event. Leave no trace.
