Family
One "lil angel" daughter , three of the best little sisters in the world and a rock solid old man
Age
42
Favorite Sports
Just about anything that involves being outdoors... Hiking/climbing mountains, trail running , snowshoeing , riding Frannie (fat bike) in the snow and mud are a few. Skiing/ski touring is a fairly new hobby that I have added to the list in the last few years.
What is it about The Endurance Society that speaks to you?
What speaks to me and what I admire most about ES is that it's like one big crazy family! We are this amazing group of people that gather together for competitive events and push ourselves to our own individual limits and abilities meanwhile , the entire time we are there supporting one another 100% .... and having a ton of fun too !
What do you do for a living?
My day job is work in construction and excavation - dirt and demolition ! For a living I explore the mountains.
What inspires you?
The person that pushes themselves past what the believe their limits are just to see how far they can go - anyone from beginner to pro. And at the same time they're able to be supportive to others and enjoy the journey no matter what the outcome is on that particular day.
That is inspiring to me.
What is your favorite race?
Infinitus - my first ES race and my first 100 miler.
It's a trail running festival where you get to camp, race, hangout, catch up with old friends and walk away with new friends. And I like that it has something for everyone from 8 to 888k.
Favorite places to travel?
The Adirondack High Peaks hold a special place in my heart for local adventures. Really anyplace that has beautiful scenery and/or mountains interest me. I am headed to the northern tip of Norway for vacation and Skyrace in August , I am pretty stoked for this trip!
What are some of your goals for 2017 and beyond?
Right now my main priority is to spend as much time as I can in the Adks hiking, climbing, trail running and just enjoying all the beautiful scenery.
As far as race goals - Infinitus 100 , Whiteface Sky Race and VK, Blamann VK ( Norway), Tromsdalstind Sky Race (Norway), Barkley Fall Classic , Big Backyard Ultra and WTM. Also a few OCRs for fun!
For 2018 - trip out to climb Rainier and a couple 100 milers out west
Bucket list - To get a chance to do a few laps at the big Barkley !!
Three words that describe you
Determined / easy going

Two daughters, 1 son. Single father.

Favorite Sports
Ultrarunning, OCR, and basketball, rock climbing
What is it about The Endurance Society that speaks to you?
I think it's the more personal connection and closeness of the members and staff. Compared to other larger race companies and even just road running marathons. When the event is over it's over. But with the endurance society we are all still connected even without the events. Also the events themselves are uniquely challenging. It's never just a race, or a trail run.
What do you do for a living?
Kitchen and bath designer.
What inspires you?
I have a few close friends that have accomplished some amazing goals some of them are in this group and they know who they are. Their accomplishments inspire me to be able to do do the same. Also my kids. Knowing that what I do shapes them for the rest of their lives inspires me to try harder and show that no challenge is too big to tackle.
What is your favorite race?
To date. The Infinitus 88k goes down as my best accomplishment.
What are some of your goals for 2017 and beyond?
Last year I attempted my first 100 miler and came up short. So this year's goal is focused on finishing the Tesla Hertz 100 miler. This year I'm working on my overall fitness level, and want to be what I call 50k ready, in that any given day I am able of doing a 50k on a days notice and not need really any recovery time. Beyond that my dream is to have the opportunity to run the Badwater 135, and be able to use my running ability to race and travel to other parts of the world. Or maybe just have an excuse to travel because there is a really cool race I want to do.
Three words that describe you
Loyal, generous, kind.

Name
Erica Simister
Hometown
Palmer, MA
Family/Supporters
Chris, husband. Two cats, a dog, and a horse. I have three sisters (still working on getting at least one of them to do an event), and my parents live nearby. My father "Older John" is at almost every event.
Age
36
Favorite Sports
Equestrian and Strong(wo)man. Other than riding, I did nothing athletic until 2010, when I signed up for a race (that Andy was RD of) and realized I needed to have some sort of strength. So I joined a Crossfit gym (where I met Chris) and eventually migrated to Strong(wo)man.
Hobbies
Lifting weights/things, eating, hiking, reading, sewing, horse stuff. I've recently started target shooting.
What is it about The Endurance Society that speaks to you?
The race directors care a lot about what they offer through The Endurance Society and that shows in the type of people their events attract. It is always an interesting and enjoyable crowd. They also "lead" by doing; they're out there pushing themselves as hard as they expect you to push yourself.
What do you do for a living?
I'm in financial services. I work for a company that advocates health and wellness so I can use my lunch break to work out, and I have a manager who doesn't judge what I do on the weekends.
What inspires you?
The concept that I'm doing things that weren't socially acceptable on a widespread basis for females when my grandmother, or even my mother, was my age.
What is your favorite race?
I think Frigus (Snowshoe Festival), because it's near my birthday and some of my friends also do it. And because it might be horribly cold out, which makes things more interesting.
What is your favorite place to travel to?
I've spent a few weeks in California and would love to spend more time there hiking.
What are some of your goals for 2017 and beyond?
I'm coming back from a foot injury and I have a Strong(wo)man competition in April. I'd like to do well in that. From there, I'd like Infinitus to go well, and have a few other races on the calendar. And maybe more if Andy talks me into something last minute. I plan to deadlift 400+ pounds this year (for a new personal best). My overarching goal is to not re-injure my foot. Beyond 2017, I need to hike the full Long Trail and get to the Grand Canyon. And I need to learn how to swim properly.
Three words that describe you?
Stubborn, anti-social, kind.
